UCHC receives HEI grant for 800 MHz Spectrometer
The UCONN Health Center has received a $2 million federal grant to purchase an 800 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer for use in the Gregory P. Mullen NMR Structural Biology Facility. Dr. Choukri Ben Mamoun awared Burroughs Wellcome Fund Grant

Dr. Peter Setlow was elected for Honorary membership in the Society for Applied Microbiology (based in the UK), and was inducted at their summer conference in Edinburgh in July. Honorary Membership is conferred on persons of distinction in the field of applied microbiology. |

Mass Spec Purchased
In September, an ABI MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometer was purchased which will be up and running soon for MMSB use. Stay tuned for details on how to get trained to use it. |

A good year for grants: 18 new grants have been awarded for a total of $3,527,864 direct cost grant dollars (up from $2,327,932 direct cost grant dollars in the previous year). |
